Alright, so you updated to iOS 5 beta and now you’re trying to downgrade back to iOS 4.x may be because you didn’t like it or for some other reason whatsoever, but iTunes keeps shpwing you “Error 1″? Don’t worry, we’ve got a fix for you right here! Error 1 commonly pops up when a restore is attempted on a jailbroken device to a firmware older than the current version. In other words, when using Tiny Umbrella to downgrade your device with backed up SHSH blobs.
Following the steps below will help you fix iTunes “Error 1″:
A. If you are trying to downgrade your iPhone from iOS 5 to iOS 4 firmware, you need to try one of the two things:
- Use PwnageTool (Mac users) or Sn0wbreeze (Windows users) to create a custom firmware for your device and attempt a restore.
- Download @notcom’s FixRecovery tool available here and exit recovery mode. It is common for iPhones and iPods to get stuck in Recovery mode instead of the DFU mode.
B. If you’re still not able to downgrade, try the following:
- Change the USB port, preferably the back one of your computer’s chassis.
- Restart your computer
Also, your iTunes version might be outdated. Download the latest version from here and try the restore again.
