Tinychat video chat rooms has just launched a cool iOS application which is available as a FREE download from the AppStore. It is called TinyChat FB and lets you set up out group video chats with your Facebook contacts right on your iPhone, iPod touch as well as the iPad. The application has been launched as a universal binary, meaning a single download works for both iPhone and iPad and has the ability to support video calling up to 12 Facebook friends in a single group chat.
Facebook video chat was introduced recently in collaboration with Skype. However, it is only possible through a regular web browser on Windows and Mac computers. No mobile OS including the iOS supports the feature yet. But with TinyChat FB, the feature seamlessly works on the following iOS devices, running iOS 4.x or above:
- iPhone 3GS
- iPhone 4
- iPad
- iPad 2
- iPod Touch 4G
The UI is pretty simple. All you need to do is connect with your Facebook account and authorize the TinyChat app. Once you do that, simply click a user to send a video chat invite which is shown on the other side as “I’m video chatting on my iPhone, click the link to video chat with me.” You can switch back to the Friends list and tap / invite more friends to join the group video chat. Removing them is as easy too.
Even though the app serves the purpose pretty nicely, a full featured client dedicated to Facebook video calling is already on its way. Until then, do give it a try on your iOS device by clicking the following download link!
